“In dimensions ≥5, topology and algebra match up simply. In dimensions 3 and 4, manifolds are more interesting. We used to wonder if there was some key idea from high-dimensional manifolds that would extend at least down to dimension 4, making 4-manifolds easy to understand. There is such a principle: Imbedding 2-handles in smooth 4-dimensional manifolds-with-boundary subject to a homotopy criterion. This high-dimensional idea does work in 4 dimensions and give us insight into 4-manifolds.”

And if you’re ace like me, well. She threw a tank with her bare hands, and that’s as good as it gets
I really like this post.
The importance of “water is wet” studies should not be understated. Because now you have a study to point to when someone who doesn’t already know this asks you for a source, as opposed to relying on anecdotal evidence or “common knowledge”.
Here is a link to the study. Use it profusely.
It’d be nice if people could say if they’re going to an event on Facebook so that when I’m thrust into an anxious stupor about whether or not to go, I can know at least who’s gonna be there before hand
Your friends are thinking the exact same thing
Jokes on you, none of the people invited are my friends cuz it’s a networking thing
